In spite of the many advances women have made in education and empoyment, they continute to be at a disadvantage when it comes to pay and promotion. In your view, what should be done to promote equality of opportunity for men and women in the workplace.

Nowadays, women are more fairly treated than they were in the past. Many women hold important roles in the workplace in many countries in the world. But, in general, women still earn less and get less promotion than men do. And it takes time to change that. However I believe that there are some possible solutions we can apply to solve the problem.

The first solution I want to suggest is to enforce business laws or policies which motivate employers to prefer female workers such as favorable tax policies . For example: Government can reduce few percent of income tax rate for enterprises having higher female employee ratio. Governments can also reward sucessful enterprises with talented female leaders. This solution may stimulate companies to accept employ more femal workers. The measure like this would probably tackle the problem right away. However, it it not easy to evaluate and take resources to do statistics

Another feasible approach would be for governments themselves to promote female members in governmental cabinets. This way may be effective to change the point of view of people in the country. It shows that women can be leaders of the country. Therefore, there is no reason to conclude women' capabilities are lower than men's . And women with high competencies are deserved to equally paid and promoted. The measure has advantages that it shows a proof but it is quite difficult to implement as it depends on the current members' ability of the country.

To further encourage equality, governments can support enterprises to do their branding with female talented employees or leaders. Some campaigns can be effective such as talk shows about successful businesswoman, Or governments can create associations, events to commend names of great female leaders. The measure is quite effective in changing fixed ideas about women of society. It also takes time but once we can change mindsets of people in society, it can maintain for a long time.


It is true that it is not easy to promote equality of women and men but it is doable and there is no reason why we do not do it. This is also the issue of sexual discrimination and it relates to population balance. It is meaningful to keep equality in paying & promotion in workplace. I think that we should do that.
