Working independently in teams is
one of the most essential skills to work effectively. Most of companies prefer
candidates with experiences in teamwork or used to be trained those skills at
universities. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage students at schools to
get used that and school managers should have some methods to assess the
effectiveness.
One possible approach would be
for school management to set learning programs in which group projects are
compulsory. School leaders should require teachers to arrange group working assignments
and those tasks should be considered as serious examinations. Thus, teachers
can assign a group to do research or investigate on ongoing topics. This method
would certainly encourage learners to spend time together to solve a same
problem. As a result, students would learn to work as a team independently.
To further encourage teamwork
spirit, schools can organize events of teambuilding activities such as
researching on new technologies, sport team games. Evidence of competition in
forms of teamwork would educate students’ mindset the importance of teamwork at
schools and in life also.
In addition to some teacher
monitoring, teachers take necessary guides students to follow necessary tasks
to complete team projects. Students need to update the project status regularly
and ask for advice when necessary. Therefore, teachers can monitor and assess
progress and support them accordingly.
In conclusion, teamwork can be
trained and assess at schools but should be done in right way.
